Negligent Security

According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Uniform Crime Report, there were 1,203,564 violent crimes reported in the United States in 2012. Moreover, the South, the most populous region in the country, accounted for 41.3% of all violent crimes. These violent crimes consist of, but not limited to, sexual assault, rape, assault, battery, robbery, and homicide.

While violent crime is tragic in and of itself, compounding the tragedy is the fact many violent crimes are preventable and occur in places that fail to provide adequate security for people on the property. Inadequate security, or negligent security as it commonly referred to, is not just limited to the lack of security guards and cameras. Rather, negligent security extends to underlying structural defects on property such as lack of or poor lighting, broken locks, inoperable security gates, and broken fences. Furthermore, common places where innocent individuals become victims of violent crime due to negligent security include nightclubs and restaurants, apartment complexes and hotels, parking lots and garages, schools and activity centers, as well as malls and other businesses.

Unfortunately, victims of violent crime due to negligent security suffer not only physical trauma but emotional trauma as well. These injuries can have life altering consequences and the need to obtain full compensation for these injuries is of paramount importance.

The Abrego Law Firm is experienced in handling negligent security cases. From the outset, we work hard to locate and interview witnesses, identify and obtain incident and crime reports, and located and obtain surveillance videos and pictures of the property – all of which are vitally important following an injury suffered due to negligent security.

Please contact The Abrego Law Firm, LLC to learn how we can help you recover from your injuries and obtain compensation by calling us at (404) 334-3324 or by email at info@abregolawfirm.com.
